Shako Cord: Belgic, Officer's

A unique feature of the Officers Cord for the British Belgic Shako introduced in 1813 was the fact that the actual cord was woven in a square shape. Weaving this cord is almost a lost art and we were very excited several months ago when we found a small company that still did this work. The cords are made of fine gold wire interspaced with crimson silk. The tassel balls, which we discovered in our research came in a variety of styles, is made of gold knotwork over a crimson underlay, while the fringe is made up of a central core of crimson silk twist surrounded by 1/8" gold bullion. This is a beautiful and highly accurate replica of an original cord and we're very pleased to be able to offer it to our customers.
