Shilling: GR III, Nickel finish

When a potential military recruit accepted money from the Government, the enlistment contract was considered bound and he was "in the army" whether he liked it or not! This payment was usually a Shilling and Recruiting Officers and Sergeants utilized any means possible to get it into the recruit's hands. Our coin is a mint quality copy of a 1787 Shilling and is an excellent gift item for historic sites or membership token for re-enactors. Its made of nickel-plated brass which closely replicates the weight, look and metallic clink of the original silver coin, while avoiding any chance of it being passed as an original. Please contact us for discounted pricing available for historic sites and re-enactment groups.
